The commemorative medal for the participants in the Africa expedition was donated in 1908 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin . It was intended to be given to people who had taken part in Duke Adolf Friedrich's expedition to Central Africa in 1907/08.

Appearance

The award is a round medal made of light bronze . On the obverse it shows the portrait of the founder looking to the right with the inscription FRIEDRICH FRANZ GRAND DUKE V. MECKLENBURG SCHWERIN . On the reverse the multiline inscription GERMAN WISSENSCHAFTLICHE ZENTRAL-AFRIKANISCHE EXPEDITION UNDER ADOLF FRIEDRICHS HERZOG'S ZU MECKLENBURG 1907-08 .

Carrying method

The award was worn on a ribbon on the left side of the chest.
