Erizzo of Vallombrosa
Erizzo von Vallombrosa OSBVall , also Erizso , Ericusa or Ericius , (* around 1000 in Florence , † February 9, 1084 in Vallombrosa near Reggello ) was the fourth Abbot General of the Vallombrosans. He was the first student of the order's founder Johannes Gualbertus .
In 1039 Erizzo was one of the first monks who, together with the order's founder Johannes Gualbertus, founded a new religious community in the Vallombrosa monastery. Johannes Gualbertus appointed him dean of the Vallombrosa monastery. After Gualbertus' death in 1076 he became abbot of the Vallombrosa monastery.
He died on February 9, 1084 in Vallombrosa and was buried there. The grave with nine other friars was found again in 1600, but their veneration as blessed or saint was never officially recognized by the Vatican .
