Erkki Aro

Erkki Aro (born March 11, 1916 in Helsinki , † 1993 ) was a Finnish orienteer .

Aro belonged to the orienteering club Helsingin Suunnistajat . Here he ran together with Arvo Ek and Juhani Salmenkylä in a team. In the mid-1950s, the club was one of the best in Finland and Scandinavia. Aro won four Finnish championship titles with the club's season, as well as the Jukola seven times between 1949 and 1960 and the Tiomila in Sweden in 1954 . In individual he won the Finnish championship in 1949 and 1953, and was also three times Finnish runner-up.

Aro no longer took part in European or world championships, which were not held for the first time until the 1960s.
