Helsingin Suunnistajat
Helsingin Suunnistajat ( German orienteer Helsinkis ) is an orienteering club from the Finnish capital Helsinki .
history
The association was founded in 1943 and today has around 800 members. About a fifth of them are under 21 years of age.
The club's most successful period is the 1950s. To this day, the club’s Jukola relay is the record winner of the competition with eight victories between 1949 and 1970. The club's best-known runners include Juhani Salmenkylä and Erkki Aro , who were on the team for seven of the eight Jukola successes. In 1954 the men also won the Tiomila in Sweden.
