Gernot Kerschbaumer

Gernot Kerschbaumer (born August 18, 1983 in Vorau , Styria ) is an Austrian orienteer .

In 2008, Kerschbaumer won the bronze medal in the middle distance at the Student World Championships. In 2011 in Rio de Janeiro he became military world champion on the long distance and runner-up on the short distance.

At the orienteering world championships he reached a ninth place in the middle distance and a ninth place in 2008 in the sprint. In 2011, he finished eleventh overall in the Orienteering World Cup . At the 2013 World Games in Colombia, he finished third in the mixed relay race with Anna Nilsson Simkovics , Robert Merl and Ursula Kadan . In 2014 he finished eighth in the long distance race at the World Championships in Northern Italy. In the season with Helmut Gremmel and Robert Merl, he was also eighth.

He won the Austrian championship in the sprint (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010), the middle distance (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), the long distance (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012), with the relay (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011), in a team (2009, 2010, 2011) and at night (2009, 2010, 2011). In 2008, he became a relay champion in ski orienteering .

Gernot Kerschbaumer runs for the clubs HSV Pinkafeld and OK Pan Kristianstad in Sweden. Between 2007 and 2010 he ran internationally for the traditional Finnish club Helsingin Suunnistajat .
