Church of the Redeemer (Wałbrzych)
The Erlöserkirche is a Protestant church building in Wałbrzych (German: Waldenburg / Lower Silesia).
History and structure
The Protestant Church of the Redeemer in Waldenburg was built between 1785 and 1788 based on a design by Carl Gotthard Langhans . The church belongs to the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , the Wroclaw Diocese. Construction began on August 8, 1785 and ended on November 24, 1788. The old small church building from the first half of the 18th century was demolished beforehand, only the organ from 1746 by Johann Georg Neßling was built into the new church.
The church building is on a rectangular floor plan (39 × 22 m); the square bell tower on the west facade stands on an 8 × 14 m base with a mighty arched arcade resting on two columns. The tower is crowned with four corner turrets, the octagonal halo carries a high spire. The three galleries form an oval interior. The dome, which is also oval, rests on columns with Ionic capitals .
The church was renovated in 1862–1865 and the bell tower was rebuilt.
The church was entered on January 25, 1964 in the register of architectural monuments under the number A / 4622/1052.
organ
The organ was installed in 1913 by the organ building company Schlag & Söhne in an existing organ case by Johann Georg Neßling from the old church (1746). In 1996 the organ was renovated by the Szydłowski company from Wroclaw. The cone store instrument has 47 stops on three manual works and a pedal . The actions are pneumatic.
