The Erlensee is a small artificial pond in Bickenbach , Hesse.
geography
The Erlensee is located on the northwestern edge of Bickenbach . The lake is approx. 700 m long and approx. 150 m wide. It has an area of about 10 hectares. The lake is located in the "leisure area Erlensee" in Won "Seeheimer pasture". The Erlensee belongs to the NSG Pfungstädter Moor . The island in the lake is called the “breeding area Erlensee”.

Various animal species live on the area; including ducks , kites , pond newts and wild geese . Numerous native fish species animate the pond.

The Erlensee lies in the middle of a mixed forest .
History and etymology
The Erlensee was originally a gravel pit . The gravel and sand extracted from the lake were mainly used for the construction of the motorways. After the gravel extraction ended, the Erlensee was renatured. Today the lake is used for fish farming and as a recreational area.
The Erlensee was named after the alders that grow on its banks.
Varia
A circular path on the bank opens up the water. The “Anglerheim” stands on the south-western edge of the lake.
