Ermine Street is the name of a Roman road in Britain that led from Londinium ( London ) via Lindum ( Lincoln ) to Eboracum ( York ), and in Roman times even from Noviomagus Regnorum ( Chichester ) to Eboracum . Construction began in  AD 43. The road was named in the Middle Ages after the Eorningas tribe who lived in what is now Cambridgeshire .

Today part of the route of the Roman road north of Lincoln is used by the A15 road .
