Ernest Psichari

Ernest Psichari (born September 27, 1883 in Paris , † August 22, 1914 died near Rossignol in Belgium ) was a French writer and soldier with a Catholic-nationalist outlook. He was the son of the Greek linguist and poet Ioannis Psycharis . He was on friendly terms with Charles Péguy .

Psichari took part in the fighting in the Congo as a young officer and converted to the Catholic faith on his return to France. He died in World War I , five weeks before his 31st birthday, on August 22, 1914 near Rossignol.

His work Le Voyage du centurion (German under the title Der Wüstenritt des Hauptmann ) is an autobiographical novel.
