Ernest Stanislas de Girardin

Ernest-Stanislas Marquis de Girardin (born July 24, 1802 in Paris , † January 2, 1874 ibid), Marquis , was a French politician and senator . He was the son of Cécile Stanislas Xavier de Girardin and his wife Marie France Serres († 1855).

Political life

His parliamentary career began in 1831 as a member of the Chamber of Charente . He represented the liberal opposition. After his re-election in 1840, he fought the politics of François Pierre Guillaume Guizot , which is why he was not re-elected in 1842. After the revolution of 1848 he was a member of the constituent assembly ( assemblée constituante ) and the legislative assembly ( assemblée législative ) for the department of Charente . He took a position of moderation. After the coup d'état of December 2, 1851 by Charles Louis Napoléon Bonaparte, later Napoléon III. , he was a member of the advisory commission. In 1852 he was by Napoléon III. appointed senator.

In 1865 Ernest de Girardin was appointed officer of the Legion of Honor . From 1870 he was no longer politically active.

Private life

Ernest de Girardin was married to Anaïs Laure Pauline Gaudin († 1871). The couple had two sons, Stanislas Charles de Girardin and Amable Louis Stanislas Léon de Girardin (* 1858), and two daughters.
