Ernest Vincent Wright

Ernest Vincent Wright (* probably 1873 , † 1939 ) was an American writer .

His best-known work is the novella Gadsby , whose 50,100 words can do without the letter E. The letter is only used in the introduction and concluding remarks. Every word in this novella is nevertheless both spelling and grammatical correct. Wright died at the age of 66 in 1939 on the day Gadsby was published .

Gadsby was his fourth book, with three previous publications: The Wonderful Fairies of the Sun (1896), The Fairies That Run the World and How They Do It (1903) and Thoughts and Reveries of an American Bluejacket (1918).
