Ernesto Luigi Lomasti (born October 29, 1959 in Udine , † June 12, 1979 near Arnad ) was an Italian mountaineer from Pontebba . He is considered one of the Italian pioneers of climbing. Lomasti died of a fall, believed to have been caused by a lightning strike, while on a solo climbing tour near Arnad in the Aosta Valley . The CAI section of his home parish named the Ernesto Lomasti bivouac box built in the year of his death after him.
