Ernesto Pérez Lobo (born September 5, 1970 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish judoka . He won an Olympic silver medal in 1996.

Athletic career

The 1.98 m tall Pérez was seven times Spanish heavyweight champion and four times runner-up from 1990 to 2002. In 1992 he finished seventh at both the European Championships in Paris and at the Olympic Games in Barcelona. At the Judo World Championships in 1993 , he reached fifth place in the open class. In 1995 he finished fifth in the open class at the European Championships and fifth in the heavyweight division at the 1995 Judo World Championships .

In 1996 at the Olympic Games in Atlanta he defeated the Turkish Selim Tataroğlu , the German Frank Möller , the Hungarian Imre Csösz and in the semifinals the Chinese Liu Shenggang . In the final, the Frenchman David Douillet won after 2:57 minutes, Pérez received the silver medal.

In 1997, the Spaniard took fifth place at the European Championships and seventh place at the World Championships . In 1998 Pérez won the student world championships in both heavyweight and open classes. In 1999 he won the silver medal in the open class at the European Championships after his final defeat against Selim Tataroğlu. In 2000 he was defeated by the Dutchman Dennis van der Geest in the heavyweight semifinals , and Pérez secured a bronze medal by defeating Belarusian Ruslan Scharapau . At the Olympic Games in Sydney he was defeated by Estonian Indrek Pertelson in the round of 16 , after two victories in the round of hope he was defeated by Selim Tataroglu and ultimately finished in seventh place. In 2002 Pérez ended his international career.
