Ernest John "Ernie" Collett (born March 3, 1895 in Toronto , Ontario , † December 21, 1951 ibid) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
Ernie Collett spent his entire career as a hockey player in his hometown, where he played for numerous amateur teams. From 1915 to 1917 he played for the Toronto Riverside Hockey Club, in the 1917/18 season for the Toronto Crescents, in the 1919/20 season for the Toronto Newman Hall and then for a year for Toronto Parkdale. From 1921 to 1923 he competed for the Toronto Granites , with which he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, in 1922 and 1923 . With the Granites he represented Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics. In 1924 he was Canada's first standard-bearer at the Winter Olympics.
International
For Canada , Collett took part in the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix , where he and his team won the gold medal.
