Ernst Abbe Foundation

The Ernst Abbe Foundation is after the German optician Ernst Abbe named, in 1992 from parts of the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung emerged Foundation , the promotion of science , especially in Abbes home Thuringia is required.

It manages buildings used for biotechnical purposes on the Beutenberg campus in Jena , where the Ernst Abbe Center was opened on January 23, 2006. From 1992 to June 30, 2018, the Optical Museum was also sponsored by the Ernst Abbe Foundation. Since July 1, 2018, the museum has been operating under the name Deutsches Optical Museum and is sponsored by the German Optical Museum Foundation.
