Ernst Bloch Society
The Ernst Bloch Society is a registered association whose primary aim is to disseminate and promote the work of Ernst Bloch and also to research and promote the relationship between his philosophy and contemporary thinking.
history
It was founded in 1986 and is based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , the birthplace of Ernst Bloch, in which the Ernst Bloch Center is also located. One of the founding members was the philosopher Roland Bothner (* 1953). The Society's honorary president is the philosopher Burghart Schmidt , who was its president from 1986 to 2006.
