Ernst-Detlef Mücke

Ernst-Detlef Mücke (* 1944 ) is a teacher in Berlin and has been awarded the Cross of Merit on ribbon .

Mücke has been committed to the acceptance of homosexual teachers and students in schools since the mid-1970s . Among other things, he is one of the founding fathers of the working group of homosexual teachers and educators in the Union for Education and Science Berlin.

As early as the 1970s, he was one of the first teachers to come out as gay in his school in Neukölln . Since then he has endeavored for generations of students to deal with “being gay” as a matter of course.

Together with the gay teacher group and the GEW, he campaigned for homo- and heterosexuality to be recognized as equal and for same-sex ways of life to be discussed in schools. He initiated public discussions, wrote petitions and demands to politicians and sought dialogue with politicians. He has - u. a. in the legal protection offices of the GEW - supported with advice and help. It is therefore an honor for me to present him with the Cross of Merit on the ribbon of the Order of Merit, which the Federal President has awarded him for his services. "

The Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany was awarded to Mücke for his services to equal rights and respect for homosexuals in school and society on April 20, 2005 in his school in Neukölln.
