Ernst-Ulrich Würthwein

Ernst-Ulrich Würthwein (born April 7, 1948 in Tübingen ) is a German chemist ( organic chemistry ) who is a professor at the University of Münster .

Würthwein, the son of the theology professor Ernst Würthwein , studied chemistry at the University of Marburg from 1967 with a diploma in 1972 and a doctorate under Christian Reichardt in 1975 (dissertation on the presentation, properties and reactions of adamantyl, tert-butyl and alkylidene malondialdehydes ). As a post-doctoral student he was at the University of East Anglia in 1976/77 with Alan R. Katritzky (1928–2014). Then he was at Paul von Ragué Schleyer's chair in Erlangen, where he completed his habilitation in 1983 and was then a private lecturer. In 1986 he became a professor in Münster.

In 1989 he was visiting professor at Rennes and in 1990 at Yale University .
