Ernst Altman
Ernst Altman (late 19th century ; † October 8, 1916 ) was a German chess composer from Munich.
Altman was considered gifted. His legacy includes expanding the definition of the composition theme "Romans", which Johannes Kohtz and Carl Kockelkorn had previously defined as "guiding an officer to hit", including guiding a chess piece away. The task in the diagram was much discussed after it appeared.
Altman fell in the First World War .
