Ernst Anton Wülfing

Ernst Anton Wülfing (born November 27, 1860 in Elberfeld , † December 17, 1930 in Bad Wörishofen ) was a German mineralogist and chemist .

Wülfing was awarded Dr. phil. PhD. The habilitation took place in Tübingen in 1891. From 1897 he was associate professor and from 1899 full professor in Hohenheim. From 1904 he was a regular professor at the TH Danzig . In 1907 he succeeded Reinhard Braun's full professor of mineralogy and petrography along with general geology in Kiel.

In 1908 he followed a call to Heidelberg, where he was a professor until 1926.

He developed and improved apparatus for optical measurements for exact mineralogical investigations.

Honors

In 1925 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . Since 1909 he was a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .

The mineral wülfingite is named after him.
