Ferdinand Carré
Ferdinand Philippe Carré (born March 11, 1824 in Moislains , Somme department ; † January 11, 1900 in Pommeuse , Seine-et-Marne department ) was a French engineer who is known for his work in refrigeration.
Life
His brother Edmond Carré had designed a cooling machine using water and sulfuric acid as early as 1850. In 1859 Ferdinand Carré developed a compression refrigeration machine based on ammonia, which produced 200 kg of ice an hour and was exhibited at the London World's Fair in 1862 .
Between 1868 and 1890 he developed electrostatic generators , the Carré machine .
