Ernst Bessel

Ernst Bessel (born July 27, 1906 in Essen , † September 10, 1989 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1954 to 1975 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After elementary school , Ernst Bessel completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator from 1920 to 1924 and then worked in this profession until 1930. From 1930 he worked as a driver, from 1937 as a bus driver. During the Second World War , Bessel was a driver for the Todt Organization from 1942 to 1945 . After the war he worked as a driver for AEG in Essen.

He had been a member of IG Metall since 1920 . In August 1924 he joined the SPD.

Bessel had been a member of the works council of the AEG factory in Essen since 1951 , from 1962 as works council chairman and as deputy chairman of the general works council of AEG-Kanis GmbH. At times he was a member of the supervisory board of AEG-Kanis GmbH and the non-profit housing cooperative Essen-West.

Bessel was a city ​​councilor in Essen from 1952 to 1964 . He was elected from the third to the seventh electoral term as a direct candidate of the SPD in constituencies 61 and 64 (Essen-West, Essen II) in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament. He was a member of parliament from July 13, 1954 to May 27, 1975. From January 9, 1967 to July 13, 1970, he was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

He found his final resting place in the southwest cemetery in Essen .
