Ernst Broer

Ernst Bröer (* 11. April 1809 in Oława ; † on the night of 25 to 26. March 1886 in Tarnopol ) was a German organist and musician.

Life

Bröer moved from his hometown to Breslau , where he worked for almost forty years as an organist and choirmaster of the St. Dorotheenkirche. At the royal Catholic Matthiasgymnasium Bröer was employed as a singing teacher in the years 1843-1884 . In the 1830s and 1840s, Ernst Bröer was considered the best cello virtuoso in the whole city. He also worked as a church composer and wrote eight masses, among other things. In the 1870s, Bröer taught singing at the Ursuline Monastery in Breslau. In 1884 he resigned from office and moved to the Jesuit monastery in Tarnopol, where he died of an ischemic stroke on the night of March 25th to 26th .
