Ernst Burger (entrepreneur)

Ernst MH Burger (born October 7, 1862 in Stadtroda , † after 1935) was a German entrepreneur and local politician. He was a city councilor in Chemnitz .

He was the son of the lawyer and notary Gustav Adolf Burger and grew up in Stadtroda. His mother was Fanny Burger née Mäckel. His ancestors included lawyers, theologians and foresters. After attending the community school in Stadtroda, Ernst Burger embarked on practical training and completed an apprenticeship at Carl Zeiss Jena. After several years of practical work at Carm Bamberg in Berlin , he switched to Hartmann Braun in Frankfurt am Main . In 1887 he moved to Chemnitz, where he joined Max Kohl Aktiengesellschaft, of which he became director. The Max Kohl stock corporation he headed existed until it was expropriated after the end of World War II and the subsequent dismantling by the Soviet occupying power.

Ernst Burger had specialized in municipal and economic policy and worked for a long time as a city councilor in Chemnitz. He also became co-founder and first chairman of the Society of Friends of the Trade Academy, the Bauschule, Mechanical Engineering School, Dyeing School and Training Institute for Industrial Teachers, founded in 1921 , later renamed Society of Friends of the Academy of Technology, the forerunner of today's Chemnitz University of Technology . In addition, Ernst Burger was a member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors.

He lived in Chemnitz, Hugenbergstrasse 25.

Works

One of the structures erected by his company was the Deutsche Bank building in Chemnitz on Falkeplatz.

family

In 1897 he married Elise, the daughter of the Chemnitz school director Theodor Kadner and his wife Thekla née Tröbs.
