Ernst Dotzauer (* 1924 ; † December 23, 2005 ) was a German mathematician and computer scientist .

Life

Dotzauer studied mathematics at the University of Göttingen from 1949 to 1955 . After completing his diploma in mathematics in 1955, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Practical Mathematics at the TH Darmstadt (today: Technical University of Darmstadt ). At the same time he worked in the field of "Numerical Meteorology" for the climate researcher Prof. Flohn at the German Weather Service in Frankfurt am Main. In 1958 he moved to Siemens AG in Munich and was responsible for the design of IT systems in the central laboratory and as head of the department for "Technical and Scientific Programs", "Scientific Programs" and "Information Programs". In 1962 he was in a research project the NASA with a work on the calculation of control operations with optimum condition by Lie rows in mathematics to Dr. phil. PhD .

From 1964 he was initially a lecturer at the Staatliche Ingenieurschule Konstanz (SIS) for mathematics and computer programming, from 1965 first head of the newly established computer center of SIS Konstanz, a predecessor of today's University of Konstanz .

In 1971 Dotzauer was appointed professor for economics and computer science at the Institute for Applied Computer Science and Formal Description Procedures (AIFB) at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) . From 1971 he was a member of the procurement committee of a large computer system at the newly founded University of Konstanz .

Dotzauer was a member of the Academic Burse Göttingen from 1949 to 1955 .

His textbooks were among the standard works in computer science education.
