Ernst Johann Traugott Lehmann

Ernst Johann Traugott Lehmann (born March 10, 1777 in Baruth ; † December 6, 1847 in Freiberg ) was a German mineralogist , mining lawyer and author .

After completing his studies at the Bergakademie Freiberg , Lehmann worked as an assessor at the Voigtsberg Mining Authority from 1803 . During this time he was also appointed administrator of the Reichenbach electoral alum works .

In 1808, Lehmann was given the job of the miner in Voigtsberg while retaining his position at the alum factory. With the abolition of the Voigtsberg Mining Authority on January 1, 1818, he took over the ministerial function in Freiberg.

Since 1819 he took over a teaching position for mining law at the Bergakademie Freiberg and appointed as a secretary at the Oberbergamt Freiberg. In 1824 Lehmann moved to the Oberhüttenamt in Freiberg as an actuary. In 1834 Lehmann became the holder of the chair for mining law and the mining business style at the Bergakademie, which he held until his death.

In addition to his work as a mining official in Voigtsberg and Mühlwand, Lehmann translated various mineralogical writings by Georgius Agricolola into German.
