Act

Kistler has worked at the International Institute for Empirical Social Economics (INIFES) in Stadtbergen since 1975, and has been director and partner of the institute since 1995. Among other things, he contributes to the Bavarian Social Report, which is published at irregular intervals by the Bavarian State Government .

In the book The Methuselah Lie , he criticizes, among other things, the conclusions drawn by Frank Schirrmacher in his book The Methuselah Conspiracy : "The matter becomes problematic, however, when demographically inexperienced laypeople like Frank Schirrmacher use it to construct airy connections."

Kistler doubts the effects of demographic change and is a critic of the pension reforms implemented between 2000 and 2010. In many professions - as a roofer or in care for the elderly and the sick - according to Kistler, it is simply unreal to work until the age of 67. According to Kistler, there are increasing costs that bring the question of distributive justice more to the fore: "The conflict between old and young is not that great today in our society ... But I see a growing conflict between rich and poor." the statutory pension insurance for the " corner pensioner " predicted "normal working life " turns out to be an illusion for more and more employees.
