Ernst Leonhardt (artist)
Ernst Leonhardt (* 1935 in Berlin ) is a sculptor , painter and graphic artist . He lives and works in Berlin.
Life
Ernst Leonhardt studied at the master school for arts and crafts in Berlin-Charlottenburg. From 1955 to 1958 he worked as a stage painter at UFA in Berlin-Tempelhof. He has been a freelance artist since 1958 . In addition to his artistic work, he held a teaching position at the Berlin University of Fine Arts from 1973 to 1975 and a teaching position at the Berlin University of Education in 1976. In 1984 he was visiting professor at the Berlin University of the Arts . From 1981 to 1990 he chaired the Free Berlin Art Exhibition . In 1997 he was awarded the ARAG Art Prize. While his pictures are described as expressionistic and angular, his sculptures are more shaped by round shapes.

- Design of the BZ Culture Prize (1991): The bronze sculpture "The Dancer" depicts a dancing Berlin bear and is presented annually to the winners of the BZ Culture Prize.
