Ernst Lutterbeck

Ernst Heinrich Lutterbeck (born December 12, 1922 in Gladbeck ; † May 6, 2000 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German documentary writer .

Ernst Heinrich Lutterbeck was born on December 12, 1922 in Gladbeck . After his school days in Hechingen (Hohenzollern) he was first a naval officer and finally a first lieutenant at sea and first officer on watch on submarines during the Second World War .

After his release from British captivity, Lutterbeck initially worked from 1947 to 1961 as a sales and export manager in industry. In 1962 he returned to the civil service as a documentation staff officer in the specialist information center of the Bundeswehr . He then studied philosophy, general linguistics and information science in Bonn and Berlin from 1965 to 1969.

In 1970 Lutterbeck took over the management of the "Documentation and Thesaurus" project in the scientific department of the German Bundestag. From 1972 until his retirement, he headed the “Federal Information System and Documentation in the Federal Administration” department in the Federal Ministry of the Interior, most recently with the rank of Ministerial Councilor.

At the same time he was President of the German Society for Information and Knowledge from 1972 to 1975 .

Since 1977 Lutterbeck has also been responsible for the development of the information infrastructure of the Federal Republic of Germany at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and at that time employee of the department responsible for data protection.

Lutterbeck was a member of the FDP.

Lutterbeck is best known as a co-founder of the work Basics of Practical Information and Documentation , together with Klaus Laisiepen and Karl-Heinrich Meyer-Uhlenried , from which the colloquial name "LaiLuMU" for this work is derived. This standard work, which is central to library, information and documentation science (BID) , has now been published in its 6th edition (2015).

In addition to his scientific work, he dealt with the topic of anthroposophy and wrote a publication on this topic in 1997.
