Horst Teichmann (born January 12, 1904 in Dresden ; † September 18, 1983 in Wertheim ) was a German physicist and university professor .

Life

Teichmann attended the König-Georg-Gymnasium in Dresden from 1914 , where he passed the Abitur in 1923. From the summer semester of the same year he studied technical physics at the TH Dresden . From 1926 to 1939 he was an assistant at the Physics Institute, where he received his doctorate in 1929 and completed his habilitation in 1931 (for the entire field of physics). In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . He also published in theoretical physics, e.g. B. on relativity and quantum physics . - Since the 1930s Horst Teichmann was a member of the Natural Science Society ISIS Dresden . There he headed the section for mathematics and physics from 1935 to 1940; see Ref. W. Voss, M. Lienert.

From 1939 he served the research institute of the Deutsche Reichspost and later the Bundespost (1944 Postrat, 1961 Oberpostrat, 1967 Oberpostdirektor, since 1969 retired) in Berlin, Würzburg and Nuremberg. From 1942 to 1945 he had a teaching position for theoretical physics at the University of Heidelberg , from 1948 to 1972 at the University of Würzburg , where he was honorary professor from 1953 . He was editor of the magazine Der Fernmelde-Ingenieur from 1951 to 1983 and chief editor of the concise dictionary of electrical telecommunications (1963–1970).

On March 31, 1930, Horst Teichmann married Brunhilde Kircher, the youngest daughter of the marine and landscape painter Alexander Kircher, in the Christ-König chapel in Kötschenbroda- Niederlößnitz . The marriage produced three sons.

Membership in clubs and associations

Horst Teichmann was a member of the German Physical Society DPG, Berlin , from 1925 to 1934 . - He was also a member of the VDE from January 1954 to September 1983 and during this time from 1955 to 1959 he was first chairman of the VDE district association in Northern Bavaria. Furthermore, from 1960 to 1983 Horst Teichmann was a member of the German Society for Documentation (DGD), today the German Society for Information and Knowledge (DGI), where he was on the board of the society from 1967 to 1969. In addition, he was chairman of the electrical engineering committee from 1963 to 1973, and in this function he was also the contact between the Bundespost and DGD; see Ref. E. Lutterbeck, H. Award

Horst Teichmann was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany in December 1968 .
