Ernst Otto von Linsingen

Ernst Otto von Linsingen (born March 8, 1834 in Gifhorn , † December 14, 1920 in Uelzen ) was a German lawyer from the noble family Linsingen and mayor of Uelzen.

Ernst Otto von Linsingen was the son of Karl August von Linsingen and his first wife Bertha Wilhelmine von Gruben . Since the mother died shortly after the birth, he was raised by his grandfather Ernst von Linsingen until the father married for the second time. He initially received home tuition and then attended the monastery school in Alfeld am Harz. From 1852 he studied theology at the University of Göttingen.

On December 7, 1856 he entered the Hanoverian civil service. He became an auditor and subsequently assessor in various authorities in the kingdom. These were the district courts of Burgdorf and Winsen (Luhe), the offices of Springe, Bruchhausen and Herzberg and the Landdrosteien (today governments) Osnabrück and Aurich. From 1868 he was the second official of the district chief Oldenstadt. On January 25, 1869, he was elected mayor of Uelzen and remained in this office for 41 years. He was also a district delegate, district committee member and first district deputy. He was elected to the provincial parliament of the province of Hanover and as a member of the district and provincial committee. In 1904 he was given the status of a Privy Councilor . He became an honorary citizen of Uelzen, and the city also named a street after him.

He was married and had three children.
