Ernst Petrich
Ernst Petrich (born October 23, 1878 in Gravenhorst near Hörstel , † April 19, 1964 in Leer / Ostfriesland ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
biography
The family moved to Leer / Ostfriesland in early childhood. After completing school, Ernst Petrich completed extensive training as a painter and graphic artist, from 1898 to 1901 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , and also in Berlin . There he taught until his retirement in 1939 as a teacher of commercial graphics at a craft and trade school. In 1949 he returned to Leer, where he died on April 19, 1964.
legacy
As a painter and graphic artist, he left behind an extensive work that is of particular importance for the East Frisian region, especially since he created works that were very homely: he captured many motifs typical for the region in his life. In this way, he also testifies to the past in retrospect and puts down roots in the future.
