Ernst Pistulla (born November 28, 1906 in Goslar ; † September 14, 1944 ) was a German boxer .

amateur

Pistulla won the German light heavyweight championship in 1928 and was then nominated as the representative of Germany in this weight class for the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam , the first Olympic Games in which German boxers took part.

Pistulla was the only one from the German team to reach the final of his weight class, which he lost on points against the Argentine Victor Avendano . The silver medal thus won was also the first Olympic medal for a German boxer in the history of the Games. This rank also earned him the title of European Champion as the best placed European.

professional

In 1929 Pistulla moved to the professional camp. In February 1930 he became German champion by defeating Helmut Hartkopp . On January 9, 1931, he boxed against Adolf Heuser for the European Championship. Heuser defended the title with a draw.

Just two months later, on March 18, 1931, he got a second chance for the title and secured the European title with a win against the Spaniard Martinez de Alfara . He then defended the title once by drawing again against Heuser. In May 1934 he lost in the fight for the German championship by a first-round knockout against Adolf Witt . In 1935 he ended his sporting career after three knockout defeats in a row.

In September 1944 he was killed as a soldier during the Russian campaign .
