Ernst Robert Friese-Skuhra

Ernst Robert Friese-Skuhra ( July 22, 1886 in Reiterndorf near Ischl - February 2, 1949 in Vienna ) was an Austrian theater actor , film distributor, screenwriter , director and writer .

Life

Friese, son of Carl Adolf Friese and Josefine Skuhra , was already on stage at the age of four in New York, where the family lived from 1889 to 1892 during an engagement with his father. When he returned to Vienna, he was employed as a child in roles at the German People's Theater in Vienna. After graduating from a community school and business academy in Vienna, he went to Cologne as secretary of the Residenztheater there, but also played smaller roles again and again.

From 1909 to 1911 he was director of an operetta tour that took him through the Orient and Italy. Since he was unfit for military service due to a stomach ailment, he spent the time of the war in the Austro-Hungarian War Ministry, in addition, he was the co-founder of the Feldkinozentrale .

He was a film distributor from 1919 to 1936, after which he worked as a freelance writer.
