Ernst Rupprecht (* 1910 in Neuffen ; † July 23, 1941 at Stadnica in the Ukraine ) was a German classical philologist .

Rupprecht studied Classical Philology at the Berlin University . His most influential academic teacher was the religious scholar Ludwig Deubner , who inspired him to write his dissertation: at his instigation, Rupprecht edited a codex of the life of the medical saints Kosmas and Damian, which was discovered in Egypt in 1907 .

After receiving his doctorate , Rupprecht worked as an assistant at the University of Cologne , where he was particularly influenced by Josef Kroll . Rupprecht mainly dealt with the Greek philosophy of late antiquity and its connections with Christianity.

When the Second World War broke out , Rupprecht was called up for military service. He spent the first months in the garrison, which gave him the opportunity to do his habilitation in 1940 while on vacation in Cologne and to hold his trial lecture. Then Rupprecht was used in the offensives in Serbia and Russia. He fell in Ukraine on July 23, 1941 at the age of 31.
