The mushroom in the Mühlviertel Nature Park in the municipality of Rechberg in the Perg district has been a natural monument registered in the Upper Austrian Nature Protection Book since 1984 .

description

The rocking stone made of Weinsberg granite is a landmark of the community and the nature park that can be seen from afar. It is part of a rock island in the middle of an agricultural area. The Wackelstein is located in the immediate vicinity of the Schwammerling goods route and is accessed via a marked hiking trail.

On a granite block with a height of 3.5 meters, a width of 4 meters and a length of 8 meters, a wool-sack-like weathered block with an oval shape with a height of 2 meters and a length of 5 meters lies .

The rock formation shows a typical weathering form, which is caused by the petrographic structure of this rock. It is overgrown by a sparse tree population (mainly oak and birch ).

Trivia

Legend has it that the French troops under Napoleon, when they tried to bring down the colossus with ropes and horses, turned the stone so crazy that it has not been shaken since then.
