Ernst Sachs (born March 28, 1890 in Schmalfelden , † 1977 in Wertheim ) was a German electrical engineer and founder of the company "ERSA". He invented the electric soldering iron .

Live and act

Ernst Sachs studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering at the Technikum Mittweida from 1911 to 1912 . In 1921 he applied for a patent for the "electric soldering iron" , which made it possible to carry out finer work.

In 1924 the special factory for electric soldering irons "ERSA" was founded in Berlin-Lichterfelde. In the beginning he used a rented workshop. Despite the difficult economic situation, Ernst Sachs managed to expand soldering iron production and to modify it for various areas of activity.

In 1927 Ernst Sachs was able to set up his first own factory in Berlin. During the Second World War , the Berlin plant was badly damaged by bombs and the outsourced production could not be resumed. Ernst Sachs and his family therefore went back to their old home.

In 1948 he re-founded the "ERSA" company in Wertheim. In the following years the company developed the first soldering machine and the temperature-controlled soldering iron. Ernst Sachs received numerous design and innovation awards for his designs.
