Ernst Weber (born March 4, 1906 in Zurich ; † June 5, 1997 ibid.), Reformed , resident in Zurich, was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Family and work

Ernst Weber, son of the employee of the tram company Zurich Emil Weber and Anna Rosine née Näf, completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Denzler rope manufacturer in Zurich after completing compulsory schooling . Ernst Weber had worked for the city administration of Zurich since 1933, initially at the employment office, later as secretary of the welfare office and the housing welfare foundation for elderly residents of the city of Zurich. In 1972 he retired.

Ernst Weber, who was married twice, died in 1997 at the age of 91 in his hometown of Zurich.

Political career

Ernst Weber, who joined the Social Democratic Party (SP), was a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council from 1952 to 1964 , of which he was President in his last year in office. In 1963 the people elected him to the National Council , in which he sat until 1971. In addition, Weber presided over the Social Democratic Party of the Canton of Zurich from 1958 to 1968. Ernst Weber last held the office of central president of the social democratic Swiss Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (SATUS) from 1967 to 1975 .
