Ernst Westhoven

Ernst Westhoven (* 1856 in Kaiserslautern , † April 24, 1935 in Munich ) was a German medic.

Life

Westhoven grew up in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and studied medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he was a member of the Corps Rhenania . After completing his studies and the doctorate to Dr. med. In 1886 he became head physician at BASF in Ludwigshafen, in 1891 he was also head physician in the internal department and chief physician of the Ludwigshafen hospital (until 1921). Westhoven carried out the systematic examination of workers suspected of having aniline cancer in Ludwigshafen and thus laid the foundation for further research in this area. He was appointed to the Bavarian Councilor in 1908 and to the Secret Medical Council in 1934. In 1926 he retired, which he spent in Munich.
