Ernst Wolff (born April 1, 1936 in Fürstlich Drehna ; † September 3, 2014 there ) was a motor sportsman and 13-time national champion of the GDR .

The trained motor vehicle mechanic Wolff started his sports career in 1954 as a motorcycle off- road driver before he switched to motocross a year later . By 1967 he was a total of nine GDR champions in this discipline. In 1968 Wolff switched to a racing boat with a 500 cc outboard motor . In the last race of his first season in Schneeberg , he finished second. Because this race was no longer part of the GDR championship, it only finished eighth at the end of the year. In the following years he won a few races, but did not achieve a championship title. Against international competition, he made fifth place at the 1971 European Championships in Hanover.

After finishing third in the GDR motorboat championship in 1971 and 1972, Wolff switched back to motorcycles, this time to sand and grass track sports. In the 250 cm³ class, Wolff, who started for the MC Drehna, won the title of GDR champion five times (1974 to 1977 and 1979). He also won the Mountain Ring Cup in Teterow in 1975 . Wolff later worked as a trainer for the youth and helped organize the MC Fürstlich Drehna.

In 2007, at the 42nd motocross event on the "Weinberg" in Hänchen , the 71-year-old Wolff was seen back on the racetrack as a mechanic for his grandson Toni, who started in the 125 cm³ class.

Ernst Wolff was married and had a son and two daughters. He died in Fürstlich Drehna at the age of 78.
