The Ernste were a family of the Franconian nobility , which particularly emerged in Bavaria in the 9th century. The best-known family member is the Grenzgraf Ernst († 865), who was the most important noblewoman in Bavaria after the king. His fall after a conspiracy caused the family to resign. However , they were able to keep their property in Sualafeldgau . The seriousness is attested for the last time at the beginning of the 11th century.
