Ernstpeter Maurer

Ernstpeter Maurer (born July 22, 1957 in Siegen ) is a German theologian and professor of systematic theology at TU Dortmund .

Life

Before graduating from high school, Maurer was a young student at the State University of Music in Cologne from 1973 to 1976, studying piano. After graduating from high school, Maurer studied Protestant theology from 1976 to 1983 at the Universities of Bonn, Munich and Duke (Durham NC, USA) and graduated in 1983 with the first theological examination.

In 1988 he received his doctorate in Bonn on the philosophy of language in Karl Barth's «Prolegomena zur Kirchliche Dogmatik» . From 1988 to 1994 he was a research assistant (C1) at the Ecumenical Institute of the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn . In 1994 he completed his habilitation (venia legendi for systematic theology): The human being in the spirit. Studies on anthropology in Hegel and Luther .

He then worked as a private lecturer and senior assistant (C2) at the Ecumenical Institute of the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn until 1995 and has been Professor of Evangelical Theology and its didactics with a focus on systematic theology at the TU Dortmund since 1995 .

Maurer lives in Dortmund with his wife and has a son from his first marriage.
