Erol Özkaraca (spoken: Öskáradscha; born October 30, 1963 in Hamburg ) was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 2011 to 2016 . He was a member of the SPD for over two decades .

education and profession

Erol Özkaraca studied law at the Free University of Berlin with a legal clerkship from 1999 to 2002. He then worked as a lawyer in an international law firm until 2006, since then in his own law firm.

politics

He joined the SPD in 1994. When he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 , he received a mandate from the district list in Neukölln . In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives on September 18, 2016, he ran again for the SPD, but was unable to defend his mandate.

Özkaraca was seen within the SPD as a vehement critic of political Islam . In response to an appearance by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller at a peace demonstration on Breitscheidplatz on March 16, 2017 to commemorate the Islamist terrorist attack on December 19, 2016 , in which associations were also involved that are being observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution for Islamist tendencies, Özkaraca left the SPD three days later.

Özkaraca is a guest author of the Axis of Good .
