The church

The Roman Catholic Church Epiphany is located in the town of Altenburg in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

history

The building, which had previously been used by the Concordia Varieté , was taken over as the parish church in 1950 and consecrated on June 24, 1950. In the 1960s, the artist Friedrich Preß created the sacred interior design.

The church was redesigned from summer 2008 and rededicated on January 3, 2010 after the work was completed.

Church interior

The new room has flexible seating and can be separated from the main nave and separately heated, which was the aim of the effort. The baptistery is circular and has a baptismal font . Behind it is the confession . The icon chapel is to the side.

The renovation was only possible with the support of the Sparkasse Altenburger Land foundation and numerous donors. Now 2,100 Catholic Christians from the Altenburg area can find a place and home for church services.
