Ervas Tenras was the seat of an independent community ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Pinhel . 137 inhabitants live in the former municipal area (as of June 30, 2011).

As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal in 2013 , the municipality of Ervas Tenras was dissolved on September 29, 2013 and merged with the municipality of Cerejo to form the new municipality of Terras de Massueime . Cerejo became the seat of the new municipality.
