Erwin Bock (resistance fighter)

Erwin Bock (born February 23, 1908 in Berlin ; † December 20, 1939 in Sachsenhausen concentration camp ) was a German resistance fighter and member of the Communist Party of Germany .

Life

He learned to be a plumber and lived in the Berlin district of Koepenick . Bock was a member of the Communist Youth Association and later joined the KPD. From 1933, after the beginning of the Nazi dictatorship, he was involved in various forms in the KPD's illegal resistance work. From 1936 to 1939 he worked underground with Alfred Randt , was arrested by the Gestapo in July 1939 and taken to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. There he died as a result of torture.

Honors

Erwin-Bock-Strasse in Berlin-Köpenick has been named after him since September 19, 1981.
