Erwin Ernst Wilhelm Meier

Erwin Ernst Wilhelm Meier (born March 24, 1937 in Detmold ; † September 12, 2007 ) was a German composer and school musician.

Life

Meier grew up in a village near Detmold , first attended the Remmighausen elementary school and later the Leopoldinum grammar school in Detmold. From 1958 he studied high school music at the Detmold University of Music and later at the University of Münster . His focus was on piano , music theory and musicology , and his teachers included Kurt Thomas , Günter Bialas , Johannes Driessler and Jan Natermann . In 1963 he finished his studies and initially went to Herford and Bielefeld as a trainee lawyer before he began teaching at the Bielefeld-Bethel secondary school in 1966 . In addition to his school service, Meier worked as a pianist and accompanist and wrote numerous song compositions.

His focus was on piano, music theory and musicology. He was a music educator as well as choir and orchestra conductor and chamber musician in Detmold. He became known through numerous compositions, especially for choir.
