Erwin Harz

Erwin Harz (born May 7, 1934 - July 11, 2017 ) was a German music teacher and local politician for the Social Democratic Party of Germany .

Life

The music teacher Erwin Harz is one of the first members of the SPD, which was re-established in the GDR in 1990, and was elected to the Wernigerode district council in the same year , where he became the first chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. In July 1990 he became head of the department for culture, education and sport in the district of Wernigerode . For several years until the end of May 1999 he was deputy to the district administrator of the district of Wernigerode. Shortly before reaching his professional retirement, Erwin Harz, who plays tennis himself, was elected chairman of the KreisSportBund eV on November 24, 1998. At the time, this club comprised 142 sports clubs with almost 15,000 members. At the same time he was head of the Wernigerode jazz club. In the following local elections until 2009 he was elected to the city council of Wernigerode and the district council of the Harz district.
