Art / culture prize of the city of Wernigerode

The town of Wernigerode gives in every two years, alternating the Art Prize of the city of Wernigerode and the Culture Prize of the town of Wernigerode as a prize . On the recognition of art and culture prize by a jury whose members of the City Council each for a term from the proposal of the Culture Committee will decide City Council are appointed.

The City of Wernigerode's Art Prize is awarded for outstanding services in the artistic and cultural field to individuals, groups, associations or institutions that promote the city's reputation beyond the region. The City of Wernigerode's Culture Prize is awarded in recognition of the artistic work of existing groups and individuals with a regional impact. Outstanding achievements in artistic and cultural areas (visual arts, design, architecture, monument conservation, performing arts, photography, handicrafts, music, literature) as well as in scientific and cultural areas are recognized.

The prize consists of an award certificate and an available amount of 2,500 euros. This amount of money can be paid out in favor of the award winner upon the decision of the jury or used in some other way to honor the award. The culture award is usually paid out in cash.

The award ceremony takes place annually in a festive setting in a special meeting of the city council in the ballroom of the Wernigerode town hall , in conjunction with the town hall festival.
