Rainer Ehrt (born August 13, 1960 in Elbingerode (Harz) ) is a German painter , graphic artist , illustrator , cartoonist and author .

Life

Rainer Ehrt spent his childhood and youth in the Harz Mountains. He attended the EOS "Gerhart Hauptmann" in Wernigerode , today the state high school for music of Saxony-Anhalt.

After graduating from high school and serving in the army, he studied industrial design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle for two semesters . The subsequent change of subject to fine arts was preceded by a year of internship as a printing worker in Halle (Saale) and Leipzig , in which he laid the technical foundations for his later activity. From 1983 to 1988 he studied commercial graphics and illustration at the Burg Giebichenstein Art College in Halle (Saale) with Gudrun Brüne (drawing), Gerhard Gnauck (writing), Eva Natus - Salamoun and Rainer Schade (illustration). Rainer Ehrt graduated from Gerhard Voigt and Rainer Schade in 1988 .

Already during his studies he developed a special inclination towards satirical and critical graphics, book art and illustration. He has been married to the designer and sculptor Julia Ehrt, née Kretzschmar, since 1984 and is based in Kleinmachnow near Berlin.

Act

Rainer Ehrt started out as a graphic designer, illustrator and poster designer on behalf of the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam , the Progreß film distributor and various Berlin publishers. At the same time, he cultivated free graphics using the original graphic techniques of etching , serigraphy and woodcut and in 1993 founded Edition Ehrt for original graphic bibliophile artist books .

His time-critical cartoons and satirical drawings are published by many newspapers and publishers, for example in: " Eulenspiegel ", "Das Magazin", " Märkische Allgemeine ", "Nebelspalter" (Switzerland), " Cicero ", " Manager Magazin ", " Süddeutsche Zeitung ”,“ Frankfurter Allgemeine ”and“ Die Zeit ”. Since 2000 he has also been involved in painting and wood sculptures. In the book "Preußische Landfahrten", published in 20115/16, he also published his own poetic texts for the first time.
